2010 Racing Season at the Royal Southern Yacht Club

Over 200 yachts participated in events organised in 2009 and the Club aims to beat that record in 2010!

The ever popular Summer Series format allows for maximum racing on the water with minimal impact on other events. In May, June, July and September a whole weekend is dedicated to IRC, Sportsboat and one-design racing. Any class which can muster more than 8 boats will be given their own class start.

The International Class 40 fleet held their first ever World Championship at the Southern in 2009, providing a fantastic spectacle in the Solent. There were very strong turn outs from the Laser SB3, J109 and J80 classes.

This year The Royal Southern is delighted to be organising National Championships for – The Beneteau 40.7s, Swallows, J109s and 6 Metres.

In addition, the Club will also host: The J Cup, SB3 Solent Series 1, Beneteau Cup, Contessa 32 Regatta, Sigma 33 Racing, IRC Solent Series 2, Metre Regatta, J109 Saturday Series, X Yachts Solent Cup, Women’s Open Keelboat Championships, two Farr 45 Race Weekends & a RORC Commodores Cup Trial at the May Summer Series.

One of the highlights of the 2010 Calendar will no doubt be the Royal Southern Oyster Week. The week will comprise of sailing and socialising in the Solent, visiting Yarmouth and Cowes.  A    Round the Island voyage will also feature in the itinerary!

The Club is very much looking forward to welcoming the competitors to all these great events throughout the coming summer. Online Entry will be available soon for all events!
