Avia recently set up the International Metre Association and it’s
website www.imeta.org along with other metre boat enthusiasts such as Rees Martin, the Secretary of the British Six Metre Association. “We are working with the Royal Yacht Squadron to create the ultimate celebration for the Centennial Year of the International Rule on the Solent in 2007.”

IMETA aims to promote and bring together all metre boats from 1m to 24m. There is already promise of over a hundred 2.4ms and talk of racing remote control metre boats. Not to be outclassed the big sisters from the Universal Rule the J-Class intend to lift their skirts at the celebrations.
